Abstract (ERIC 5-Element Standard)
The purpose of this study is to examine automated browser-based video post-production algorithms—specifically spatiotemporal visual saliency reframing (16:9 widescreen to 9:16 vertical aspect ratio), YUV color-space chroma-key background removal, and generative image-to-video synthesis—within media communication and broadcast production curricula. The methodology evaluates Kalman-filtered focal point tracking across lecture and interview footage, Euclidean color-distance alpha matte extraction with green-spill despill matrices, and optical-flow-conditioned latent video diffusion. Empirical benchmarks from DS-7 indicate that browser-executed video reframing and green-screen removal operate on standard 4-to-8-gigabyte classroom laptops without dedicated video editing cards, reducing student rendering bottlenecks while maintaining temporal trajectory smoothness. Implications for journalism, digital storytelling, and career technical education (CTE) programs include democratizing broadcast studio workflows for schools lacking nonlinear editing workstations. Additional materials include 6 tables, 33 references, studio lab protocols, and 195 embedded URI links.
