LimeWire is a file-sharing and AI platform that runs in the browser at limewire.com. Files of any size are uploaded once and shared as a link that works on any device, with no account needed to receive one and nothing to install on either end.
The name carried over from the peer-to-peer application shut down by court order in 2010; the software did not. Nothing in the current product uses peer-to-peer file sharing, and there is no desktop client — any site offering a LimeWire download is not us. The brand was relaunched in 2022 and the platform has since moved from digital collectibles to file sharing, file tools and AI generation.
Five products sit behind one account: file sharing by link; AI Studio, which generates images and short video from a description using Google Gemini 2.5 and Stable Diffusion models; a set of browser-based file tools for converting, compressing and editing documents, images, audio and video; an open research library of papers and datasets; and an MCP server that lets an AI assistant store and share files on a user’s behalf. Every account gets 60 free AI credits a week, the same allowance on every plan.
LMWR, the platform token, works across the product as a method of payment and as a rewards currency. It trades publicly and is not required to use any part of the platform.

The articles below cover the 2022 relaunch of the brand, when LimeWire started as a digital collectibles marketplace. They are kept here as a record of that period — they do not describe the current product. For what LimeWire does today, see the section above or the about page.
