Hi, I'm Nick Coleman, a music producer and live performer originally from Melbourne, Australia, now based in Düsseldorf. I am a classically trained violinist (A.Mus) and guitarist, having completed my Bachelor of Music at Queensland University of Technology.
Throughout my career, I have achieved numerous milestones. I've written and produced multiple ARIA Dance Chart Top 10 hits, International Top 10 Pop Chart tracks, Beatport Top 10 hits, and a club hit voted into 'The Australian Top 100 Greatest Dance Tracks of All Time'.
My music has received support from notable artists such as Carl Cox, Joe Goddard (Hot Chip), DJ Hell, Annie Mac (BBC Radio1), and Moguai. This support has led to performances on renowned radio stations, clubs and electronic festivals worldwide, including BBC Radio One, Triple J, Space Ibiza, DC10, Glastonbury Festival, Time Warp, and Kappa Futur Festival. Additionally, my tracks have been licensed to global music brands like Ministry of Sound, MTV, Kontor Records (Germany), and Sweat It Out (Australia).
In 2016, I had the honor of being commissioned by the iconic Australian band Yothu Yindi and the Treaty Project to write and produce music for them. My work was featured in their sold-out Australian shows and their performance at the 2018 Australia Commonwealth Games closing ceremony.
In 2019, I pioneered the development and programming of software that enables me to play synthesizers and iOS instruments using the violin. This innovation made me the first violinist in the world to achieve this feat. During the album recording process, I was invited by pioneering synthesizer makers Moog and Elektron to beta test their software and iOS synths.
On January 22, 2021, I released my debut album, 'Live,' the first in a series of three live performance albums. This album is the culmination of two years of pre-production, research, development, and innovation at the forefront of electronic music technology and performance. “I’m amazed at the music you have presented here.” - Wolfgang Flür (Kraftwerk 1971-1987).
I am a member of the generative music group Music Non Stop which formed in 2021. Our first project, COUNTERSOUL, is a real-time, generative music and visual performance inspired by the Bitcoin blockchain. We began developing this project in late 2021 and completed it in January 2023. COUNTERSOUL is the first generative musical composition inscribed on Bitcoin, marking a significant milestone in the intersection of music and blockchain technology.
